Foundations Series: Beginners Yoga

Are you ready to gain more flexibility, mobility, agility, balance and strength in your life? Sign up now! This 6 week program will take you from a yoga novice to comfortable joining any intermediate yoga class.  This class is designed to help you gain confidence in doing yoga without injury. You will learn the following:

  1. Basics of body awareness

  2. Basics of alignment

  3. How to modify the postures for your body

  4. How to increase flexibility and mobility

  5. How to increase balance and build physical strength

The NIH lists* the benefits of yoga as the following:

  • Help improve general wellness by relieving stress, supporting good health habits, and improving mental/emotional health, sleep, and balance.

  • Relieve low-back pain and neck pain, and possibly pain from tension-type headaches and knee osteoarthritis.

  • Help people quit smoking.

  • Help people manage anxiety or depressive symptoms associated with difficult life situations.

  • Relieve menopause symptoms.

  • Help people with chronic diseases manage their symptoms and improve their quality of life.

Who benefits from Yoga

Yoga is designed for those who want to build flexibility, mobility, agility, balance and strength. 

What does a class involve?

A set of yoga asana (poses) which can be done or have been modified to be done seated. The class is 60 minutes long. The poses can be modified for any specific health condition each student is facing.

Who leads the class?

The class will be lead by Bett Bollhoefer, a certified yoga instructor who has been working with students of various abilities.

How long does the program last?

6 week program that progressively builds each week. The class would meet once a week for 60 minutes. The class meets on Saturday. June 25th to August 7th 2022 11:30am to 1:00.
